DUS
- testing
According
to Law on Seed, Plant Material and Plant Variety Registration
(Official Gazette 131/1997), variety will be registered if tests
have proved it to be distinctive, uniform, stable and with required
economical value (Article 75, Paragraph 2).
That means that in the procedure of registration of variety it is necessary to determine:
-
Value for Cultivation and Use (VCU)
-Distinctness,
Uniformity and Stability (DUS)
DUS-testing (hereinafter: DUS) is conducted according
to UPOV Guidelines.
Institute
for Seed and Seedlings is performing DUS tests for wheat, barley
and maize, main reasons for that are big importance of those
crops in Croatia and breeding of those crops which are in Croatia
on extremely high level..
For all other kinds of plants tests are performed in other countries,
members of UPOV.
