Institute for Seed and Seedlings (hereinafter: Institute) is established by the Government of Republic of Croatia, which has declared Act of establishment the Institute for Seed and Seedlings on 26th of March 1998, and appointed Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for implementation of rights and responsibilities of founder.

Institute is governed by Management Board, appointed and acquitted by the Government of Republic of Croatia on the suggestion of Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (hereinafter: the Ministry).

General Manager, who is appointed and acquitted by the Ministry, leads activities of the Institute. Manager is representing the Institute and is responsible for the work of the Institute.

Means for work of the Institute are procured by its own activities and from State budget. The Institute is non-profitable institution.

The Institute began with work on 1st of January 1999. Staff of the Institute is working on two locations. Headquarter of the Institute is in Osijek, Vinkovačka cesta 63c, and part of the Institute is situated in Brijest.

On Brijest location are situated: Departement for Seed and Seedlings Certification, Laboratory for Seed Quality Control and Departement for Technical Support.
